Vamp Weekend! i DIE!

The Lady Is A Vamp
Hong Kong Tatler,
 May 2011
Photographers: Seth Karecha & Ron Contarsy

Where do I begin, well- I´m a sucker for anything in reference to the 20s, 30s and 40s but I´ve never been a huge matchy-matchy fan, but after this editorial for Tatler Hong Kong I’ll be wearing my checkered sealing as a top and my baby purple wall as trousers (doesn´t sound too bad actually!). So the outfits are amazing, the location is ideal but the MAKEUP oh my GOD the makeup you guys. Look at it, it´s actually makeup and not computer brushed spray cans! LOVE IT- and the hair is oh so perfectly mannequin. Ok, I´m officially out of words- BRAVO!

What do you guys think of this? Let´s not be comment shy people!

Love,
Tove

Loving Colorful Swimsuits!

SUNSHINE LADY
RUISSIAN VOGUE
 MAY 2011
 SHOT BY MARIANO VIVANCO

I´m a big swimsuit fan, even though they´re not as easily worn as one would have thought- especially if lots of colors are involved. But this colorful swimsuit editorial from Russian Vogue makes it look effortlessly. It´s just so well executed from the mix of color, print and animal (big trend this summer), with some 70s nostalgia without having it over-take the shots. I especially love the use of accessories and jackets and the makeup couldn’t be more fitting. I didn´t think I would appreciate the turban back so soon, but in these pics it just seems perfect. The poses are also very interesting, not too sexy and not too artsy. All in all a very pleasant spread filled with inspirational thoughts for personal and professional use. Enjoy!

Love,
Tove

"What we learned from the royal wedding"

FASHION DILEMMA

What did we learn from the royal wedding?

For months Fashion Statement has resisted the lure of that wedding. Even during a sustained blitz of press releases promoting hideous wedding-themed tat (our personal favourite? The "scent of a royal wedding" candle. Presumably the mingled nausea-inducing odours of hysterical tabloid columnists, with base notes of paparazzi sweat), we kept a dignified silence. OK, a silence. But just when we thought it was all over, we've succumbed. No, don't be ridiculous, not to romanticism and happiness. Tsk, FS is more cynical than that. Instead we have plumbed the depths of writing about it. Sorry. But think of it as a purge: better out than in.

So here are five things you didn't want to know about the wedding and certainly never asked. And from next week we promise NEVER TO MENTION IT AGAIN.

1. Grazia got THE exclusive. No, not the scoop on the dress. Not the honeymoon destination. Nope, in their 'live' issue they exclusively revealed the contents of Carole Middleton's handbag. Fox's mints, lip liner and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, apparently. Now we can all sleep easy at night.

2. Philip Treacy has discovered anti-gravity. How else do you explain the fact that every single one of his 34,235 hat/fascinator creations stuck out at an angle previously unknown to science? He also must have some kind of superinjunction preventing criticism of his designs, as no one seems able to point out that they were all utterly ridiculous.

3. Grazia also scoops the prize for the most patronising comment on Mrs Middleton - a highly contested field. Katie Grand, editor of Love magazine, had this to say about her outfit: "She's come a long way since BA, hasn't she?"

4. Apparently along with the retro bunting, the old-fashioned sense of Britishness, blah blah blah, we are also returning to the happy days of sexism. Exhibit A: Pippa Middleton's physique nominated for award.

5. Kate Middleton is rumoured to have spent the ... nope, sorry. The veil has descended back over our eyes and we don't care enough to continue. Normal service is now resumed. As you were.

How to shape an eyebrow!

When shaping an eyebrow using a tweezer there are 3 easy steps to follow to makeup sure the angle and size of your eyebrow ends up perfect for you!

A) Place a pencil next to the nose wing, let it cross through the INNER eye corner and mark the spot when it crosses the eyebrow. This is where the eyebrow should START.

B) Place the pencil next to the nose wing again, this time letting it cross on the outside of the IRIS and mark the spot when it crosses the eyebrow. This is where the eyebrow should be ARCHED.

C) Lastly, place the pencil next to the nose wing and let it cross the OUTER eye corner and mark the spot when it crosses the eyebrow. This is where the eyebrow should END.

Tips! The brow between A and B should be about the width of a pencil.

The reason why these 3 steps makes the perfect eyebrow for ANY one is because it is based around the measurement of the individual eye, nose and eye brow. You simply can't go wrong!

¿Why can´t we all be Modern day Frida Kahlos´?

I am now completely convinced, the absolutely best way to attempt a floral/colorful/print mix look is to have Frida Kahlo in mind while dressing up. Personally i try my best to keep my surroundings i.e. my appartment with the keepings of Ms. Kahlo and it really creates such a magical and mystical world of happy colors and vintage flare.
